When should I book medical eye care instead of a routine exam?
Choose medical eye care when the reason for your visit is a symptom, an injury, or a diagnosed condition, such as redness, pain, floaters, flashes, light sensitivity, or a health condition that affects the eyes. These visits are often billed to your medical plan rather than your vision plan.
Routine vision needs and medical eye concerns are different visits
A routine vision exam answers how clearly you see and what correction helps. A medical eye-care visit focuses on a symptom or a condition: discomfort, redness, floaters, light sensitivity, or a diagnosis that needs to be followed.

Eyes rarely exist apart from the rest of your health. Medications, blood pressure, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and family history can all influence what we look for and how often you should be seen.
